Acoustic scultpures, Lolland

16ha
2024 - ongoing

Lollands Øre is a series of large-scale landscape sculptures that amplify and reflect the site’s existing sounds. The three concave “Ears” function as acoustic mirrors, creating zones of intensified or hushed sound, allowing visitors to listen to the slowly rewilding landscape—birdsong, wind, and the movement of plants.

The structures merge natural and industrial materials, combining reinforcement steel with woven willow and hazel. This hybrid approach—nest-building techniques intertwined with engineered infrastructure—creates living forms that evolve over time, gradually integrating with the landscape and supporting local biodiversity.

Lollands Ears highlights the site’s layered identity, where rewilding and infrastructure coexist, offering a new sensory perspective on the changing environment.

The client is Stedet the Danish Nature Agency.

Stedet Tæller X is a joint initiative by Ny Carlsbergfondet and Realdania. The program strengthens local potential in Danish rural areas by integrating art and architecture. Through site-specific projects, it enhances unique landscapes, fostering a deeper connection between place, culture, and community.
